Slick Friday morning commute; Wintry mix and snow chances -Kristin
Snow, wintry mix moving in Friday morning
Finally…light winds return to the area today! But, it’s a cold start in the 20’s and 30’s. It will be a quiet day with plenty of sunshine, highs in the low 40’s.
Winter weather returns on Friday. Watch out for a slick commute to work early in the morning. Starting off with a wintry mix in the Columbia Basin, including the Tri-Cities. Snow will be possible in the Yakima and Kittitas Valley. Up to a dusting in most areas with the Yakima Valley picking up about 1″ or less. Look for a transition over to chilly rain showers by lunchtime into the afternoon. Highs on Friday will climb into the low to mid 40’s.
A Winter Storm Watch is in place starting Friday morning until Saturday afternoon for the mountains and eastern slopes of the Cascades. Be sure to check pass reports if traveling through the mountains!
Over the weekend, look for a few rain showers to pop-up. There will be a lot of dry time with a little bit of sunshine possible. Look for highs both Saturday and Sunday in the upper 40’s.
Next week, temperatures will plummet! Look for highs in the upper 20’s and low 30’s Monday. By Tuesday and Wednesday, highs will only climb into the teens and low 20’s. Keeping an eye on snow chances Sunday night into Monday. Another snow chance will be possible by Wednesday afternoon.
