Staff Tours New Lewis and Clark Elementary Building
Teachers and staff at Lewis and Clark Elementary in Richland got a tour of their new building today.
Construction began this spring and is expected to be completed in time for the 2015 school year.
The current building was built in the early 1970’s and has room for about 450 students.
The new building will hold more than 600.
Teachers and staff say the old building contains many memories, but they will happy to move out.
“It’s seen it’s day,” says principal Liz Crider. “It’s been around for a long time and things like keeping up with the advancement in technology and the growth in the Richland School District has been the challenge for us.”
Special Ed teacher Amanda Muniz is also looking forawrd to having more space. “Well, I’m in a portable right now, so I’m excited about being inside the building with the rest of the kids.”
The new building and a new Sacajawea Elementary were made possible by a $98 million bond passed in February 2013.
