Stevens Pass will remain closed overnight due to hazardous conditions
UPDATE (6:30 p.m.) Stevens Pass will remain closed in both directions overnight as transportation officials say it has become too dangerous to monitor road conditions Monday evening.
WSDOT will reevaluate the roads and provide an update at about 5 a.m. Tuesday.
STEVENS PASS, Wash. – State transportation officials closed Highway 2 in both directions at Stevens Pass Monday afternoon after heavy snow downed about a dozen trees.
The Washington State Department of Transportation said around 2:30 p.m. Monday that crews are working to clear the trees and check other trees for potential hazards. There is no estimated time for when the highway will reopen.
The closure extends from the Stevens Pass summit at milepost 66 to Coles Corner at milepost 84, WSDOT said on Twitter.
WSDOT will announce via social media when the pass is back open.
