Study: Proposed outdoor pool in East Yakima could cost upward of $7 million
YAKIMA, Wash. — After years of community members voicing the need for a new outdoor pool in East Yakima, a feasibility study has identified three options for a potential facility at Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
The options for the pool range from about $7 million to $11 million; all include a swimming pool with lap lanes, a concession stand, locker rooms and a 1,200-square-foot sprayground.
After voting in January to move forward with looking into what it would take, the city hired a consulting firm to conduct a $35,000 study to determine if the proposed new pool could become a reality.
Now, council members are discussing what the next steps are in the process.
