Sunnyside man arrested after car chase down Yakima Valley Highway
YAKIMA, Wash. — A Sunnyside man was arrested Thursday morning after leading deputies on a car chase down the Yakima Valley Highway.
Around 2 a.m., a Yakima County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a vehicle on the Yakima Valley Highway near the intersection of Cutler Way. A 27-year-old man was driving and a female passenger was in the car.
The man didn’t have his driver’s license on him but provided a name and birth date, however, the deputy noticed the photo in their system did not match his true identity.
After some questioning, the driver took off eastbound nearly striking the deputy. The car chase continued onto Interstate 82 where the suspect’s vehicle became disabled near milepost 52.
The female passenger exited the vehicle as commanded and, after initially refusing, the man exited and was taken into custody for obstructing, eluding and resisting.
The male also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for his arrest.
