Sunnyside police officer buys bike for 10-year-old to replace stolen one
SUNNYSIDE, Wash. — A 10-year-old Sunnyside boy had his bike stolen over the weekend and while Sunnyside police were unable to find it, one officer decided to try to make it right.
The boy’s family says a neighbor noticied the bike was missing on Saturday and reported it to the police.
By the end of the day, 10-year-old Fernando Esqueda had a new bike –this one a gift from Sunnyside police Officer Porter.
The family says Porter surprised Fernando with the bike – including a bike lock – and told them that he was once a kid too.
