Suspect in critical condition following officer involved shooting in Yakima

YAKIMA, Wash. — A suspect has been arrested in an officer involved shooting in Yakima early Tuesday morning (May 31).  

Police say they approached a person in a stolen vehicle at 1st Street and Bartlett. The suspect fled and fired at officers. 

Police fired back.

The Yakima Police Department says in a post to social media that the suspect was arrested a short time later and is in critical condition. No officers were injured. 

The Yakima Valley Special Investigations Unit is now investigating.  

Police were asking people to stay away from the area of North 1st Street between Bartlett and East S Street.
