PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Washington State and coach Mike Leach have agreed on a one-year contract extension that runs through the 2023 season.The school said Wednesday that Leach will be paid $3.75 million in 2019, and $4 million per year the following four years. Leach will also receive a one-time retention bonus of $750,000 following the 2020 season.

Police interview friends of quarterback who committed suicide

Police are interviewing Washington State quarterback Tyler Hilinski's friends and people who knew him to try to learn why he apparently took his life.Police Chief Gary Jenkins says officers have no apparent motive for the death of the 21-year-old athlete, who was dead in his Pullman, Washington, apartment on Tuesday along with a rifle and a suicide note.Hilinski's family in California issued a statement saying they are in "complete shock" over his death.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah authorities say a former Washington State football player is suspected of killing his wife.Prosecutors said in a news release Friday that Anthony D. McClanahan has been arrested but not yet charged in the death of Keri "KC" McClanahan. She was found Thursday in a Park City hotel with knife wounds to her throat.
