25,000 chickens die in blaze south of Olympia

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Officials say thousands of chickens were killed south of Olympia after a chicken house caught fire at Draper Valley Farms.The Olympian reports fire crews responded to the farm at about 5:15 p.m. Monday in Tenino.Draper Valley Farms spokesman Joe Forsthoffer says the blaze destroyed one chicken house, killing about 25,000, 30-day-old chickens.He says firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading.
