13 dead whales have washed ashore in Washington this year

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - A dead gray whale washed ashore in Everett, Washington, over the weekend. The Daily Herald reports the whale was spotted Sunday near Everett's Harborview Park. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration spokesperson Michael Milstein says police and the state Department of Fish and Wildlife planned to tow the carcass Tuesday to Camano Island where it would be left to decompose.
