3.6 magnitude earthquake hits area near Mount Rainer National Park

PACKWOOD, Wash. (AP) - People living near Mount Rainier National Park report they felt a small earthquake that hit the region. The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 3.6 quake hit a spot 13 miles (21 km) southeast of Packwood, an unincorporated community near the park, at 12:31 p.m. Sunday. The quake had a depth of 0.8 miles (1.3 km). There were no initial reports of damage.

Magnitude 3.0 earthquake strikes Washington in same area as Friday quake

MONROE, Wash. (AP) - A magnitude 3.0 earthquake has struck in the same area as Friday's 4.6 quake that was felt across the Puget Sound region. The U.S. Geological Survey reports the quake northeast of Seattle near Monroe happened Wednesday at 4:43 p.m. The quake struck at a depth of 16 miles (26 kilometers). Friday's quake was roughly 13.5 miles deep and the USGS said it received reports of people feeling the shaking from Vancouver to near Wenatchee, Washington.
