With Thanksgiving weeks away, TripAdvisor conducted its annual Thanksgiving travel survey and 43% of Americans plan to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday.

More travelers plan to drive than fly this year. Below are the survey highlights:

The roads will be busier this year:
— 60% plan to drive to their destinations this year, up 3% from last year.
— 35% will fly, down 2% from last year
— In fact, travelers will be driving farther this year as 60% of those driving will travel more than 200 miles, up 9% from last year.

The majority of travelers will be leaving earlier:

27% will leave on Monday, November 24
24% will travel on Wednesday, November 26
22% are planning to travel on Thanksgiving Day
The majority will be returning on Sunday, November 30 with 29% traveling that day
63% plan to travel on off-peak hours to avoid holiday traffic.
