Three people help rescue trapped semi-truck driver

Saturday morning at approximately 8:45 a.m. a fully loaded semi truck crashed into an irrigation canal.

The semi truck filled with corn, was traveling west on Booker Rd before the driver failed to stop at the intersection of Booker Rd and SR17.

The truck continued traveling across the highway until crashing into the canal. The semi truck became completely submerged in water according to Franklin County Sheriff’s Office officials.

Three people; Osman Ramirez, Elit Espino, and Lupe Artiaga swam out to the semi-truck to help free the semi truck driver that was trapped inside, just before emergency personnel arrived on scene.

The semi driver was pulled to safety and treated for minor injuries by the Connell ambulance crew. The collision is currently under investigation.
