Three Yakima chefs will participate in the World Food Championships
WEST VALLEY, Wash. — Three chefs from the Yakima valley will represent Washington state at the World Food Championship in Alabama.
Shawn Niles, Glenn Bodine and Gilbert Kalombo are flying to Alabama Monday, November 5th, and will be competing in the burger challenge against chefs from around the world.
Shawn Niles is the team leader and said they are ready to compete.
“On Friday we’re doing two rounds for the competitions,” Niles said, “The top ten will then be competing on Sunday for the best burger in the world.”
Gilbert Kalombo and Glenn Bodine will have different roles when it comes to the competition.
“My role is to make sure Shawn succeeds and help out in anything he needs me to create.” Kalombo said.
“I’m going to assist in crashing the burger competition, we’re going to win,” Bodine said.
The three chefs have been practicing on their time and making sure they have everything set before the big day.
Although the competition is next week, it won’t be aired until next year.
