Tim Eyman announces he’s running for governor as a Republican
YAKIMA, Wash. — Anti-tax activist Tim Eyman announced Wednesday that he will be running for Washington governor as a Republican.
Eyman initially said he would be running as an Independent.
The announcement came during a press conference in Yakima just hours after a King County Superior Court judge rejected most of a legal challenge to Eyman’s $30 car tab initiative.
During the press conference, Eyman expressed his approval with the judge’s ruling. He also criticized sitting Gov. Jay Inslee, saying he has increased taxes dozens of times, costing taxpayers billions of dollars.
Eyman first announced his intention to run for governor back in November during a Sound Transit board meeting in Seattle.
