WSP: Toppenish man dies in hospital following DUI crash
YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. – A Toppenish man has died following a crash near Zillah earlier this month.
According to Washington State Patrol, on July 2nd around 1:30 a.m., 38-year-old Michael Castilleja was driving eastbound on I-82 with a passenger, 36-year-old Celestine Rocha of Yakima, when he veered into the median, causing his car to roll.
Castilleja was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he passed away on Saturday.
He was not wearing a seat belt and troopers say he was driving under the influence.
His passenger, who was also not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital with injuries.
