Toppenish man escapes injury in dump truck rollover
TOPPENISH, Wash. — A Toppenish man lost control of a dump truck when a tire blew out, causing it to crash into a power pole on North Track Road Wednesday morning. The road will be shut down for the next several hours.
The left front tire blew out as Abraham Ballesteros, 27, was driving eastbound in the 7700 block of North Track Road between Toppenish and Wapato around 9:30 a.m. The crash caused the front axle to rip out from under the 1985 Peterbuilt dump truck, according to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.
The truck went off the road, into a bank and knocked over a Pacific Power pole. The truck was completely totaled.
Thankfully, Ballesteros was able to get out of the vehicle on his own and was not severely injured.
Deputeis said he was wearing a seatbelt and no drugs or alcohol were involved.
The roadway will be shut down for several hours as Pacific Power replaces the power pole and crews clear the roadway.
