Traction tires advised on Stevens Pass because of snowy conditions
UPDATE: Around 3 p.m. Tuesday, officials said traction tires are now advised at Stevens Pass as roadway conditions have improved.
STEVENS PASS, Wash. — Drivers heading over Stevens Pass must have traction tires Tuesday morning because of snowy road conditions.
The Washington State Department of Transportation says chains are required on vehicles over 10,000 gross vehicle weight. Oversize vehicles are prohibited.
Snow has been falling throughout the morning. People traveling over the pass are advised to slow down and give other vehicles as much room as possible.
Transportation crews are working to clear the highway.
