Traffic Alert: Semi-truck catches fire near Mesa, blocks SR17

FRANKLIN CO., Wash. — Traffic is moving slowly on State Route 17 at Coyan Rd. due to a semi-truck on fire, according to Washington State Patrol.
The semi-truck caught on fire around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday approximately 10 miles north of Mesa. Washington State Patrol is moving traffic through the area slowly.
Trooper Thorson with WSP tweeted pictures of the semi on fire just before 8 a.m.
Trooper Thorson told KAPP-KVEW that the semi-truck was hauling cardboard, causing the fire to spread quickly.
Franklin County fire crews responded to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
