Troopers: Hermiston man causes crash, driving under the influence with 8-year-old grandson in car
HERMISTON, Ore. — Oregon State Police arrested a 62-year-old man Monday afternoon for reportedly crashing into another car while under the influence. Inside his car were his wife and 8-year-old grandson.
Shortly before 5 p.m. troopers got a call about a crash on US 395 and Punkin Center Road. Somboon Srimeuangsam was driving south and turned onto Punkin Center Road. He didn’t yield to a car going north on the highway, troopers said.
Srimeuangsam, his wife and the driver of the other car were all rushed to a local hospital by ambulance. Troopers said their injuries were minor, and the 8-year-old boy was not injured.
After the man was released from the hospital, he was booked at the Umatilla County Jail for multiple charges including DUII, reckless driving and assault.
