Two arrested in fatal shooting outside Yakima party
YAKIMA, Wash. — Yakima police have arrested two suspects in a shooting over the weekend that left a woman dead and a man injured.
Witnesses told police the shooting stemmed from a party near South Fair Avenue and La Salle Street, across from the Yakima Sundome.
“At the conclusion of the party, a male and a female were seen stealing a TV,” Yakima Police Capt. Jay Seely said. “Two victims confronted them outside about the theft of the TV, at which time the male suspect pulled out a pistol and shot both of the victims.”
Police received a call just before 3 a.m. Saturday about multiple gunshots heard in the area. Arriving officers found 27-year-old Diana Calixtro and a 27-year-old man with gunshot wounds.
“Patrol personnel and ambulance personnel began working, administering first aid to Miss Calixtro and CPR and they did that for about 20 minutes before she was pronounced deceased,” Seely said.
The 27-year-old man was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police said the suspects fled the scene soon after the shooting.
Investigators found nearby surveillance video that reportedly showed one of the suspects throwing something under a car on La Salle Street. When officers went to investigate, they found a .45 caliber pistol laying on the ground under the car.
“A short time later, officers also located the male and female together still in this area,” Seely said.
