Two Kennewick School District students honored as National Merit Scholar Finalists

KENNEWICK, Wash. — The Kennewick School District is celebrating not one, but two National Merit Scholarship Program finalists this year.

Sarah Lemmon, a senior at Kamiakin High School, and Nikhil Devanathan, a senior at Kennewick High School, are among the 15,000 students nationwide chosen to advance to the finalist round.

They are now both in the running for Merit Scholarships.

Lemmon and Devanathan had to score in the top 1 percent of all students who took the PSAT to achieve this honor.

Lemmon is part of her school’s orchestra and marching band while Devanathan is a science fair advocate and the student representative to the Kennewick School Board.
