U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry to visit Hanford site on Tuesday
RICHLAND, Wash. — The Hanford site will be getting a visit from a high-profile politician on Tuesday.
U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry will be coming to the facility to deliver remarks at an employee celebration to commemorate the completion of the K-Basin sludge transfer, according to the office of U.S. Representative Greg Walden.
Walden and Dan Newhouse will also be in attendance.
In a press release, Walden’s staff says that the sludge transfer project was completed under budget, and ahead of schedule. They say it will reduce environmental risks to the Columbia River.
Walden, Newhouse, and Perry will also speak with local STEM stents, and take a tour of the entire facility.
