Umatilla County deputies release Memorial Day weekend DUII arrests
PENDLETON, Ore. — Umatilla County Sheriff’s deputies added extra patrols for the Memorial Day Weekend. In those four days, five people were arrested for DUII and another 29 were pulled over for traffic violations.
Alfredo Garcia-Preciado, 25, of Hermiston was stopped Friday at 8:15 p.m. for speeding on Powerline Road. He had a blood alcohol content of .12 percent.
Jacob Joe Martinez, 32, of Hermiston was pulled over on Highway 395 between Umatilla and Hermiston Saturday around 9:15 p.m. He was traveling at about 90 miles per hour with a blood alcohol content of .14 percent.
Gail Susan Yi, 35, of Hermiston was pulled over for failing to drive in her lane and running a stop sign a little after midnight. She was arrested with a blood alcohol content of .13 percent.
Jesse Luis Lopez, 25, was arrested for a hit-and-run crash at the 1500 block of North Ott Road just outside of Hermiston on Saturday. He was found passed out behind the wheel of his car at around 11:10 p.m. with a blood alcohol content of .14 percent. He was booked for a property hit and run on top of DUII.
Ricardo Santo-Ramirez, 36, of Bremerton was arrested around 11:15 p.m. on Sunday after failing to drive within his lane. He was arrested on Highway 395 near Umatilla for having a blood alcohol content.
The DUII High Visibility Enforcement event was funded through a grant from the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association.
“These grant events give us the opportunity to increase deterrence of impaired and distracted driving, and apprehend offenders before they kill or injure someone,” Sgt. Joshua Roberts said. “I am truly proud of our deputies’ dedication to the community.”
