Union Gap man arrested for allegedly sharing child porn with his son

A Union Gap man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly sharing child pornography with his adult son on Facebook.

Paul Orton, 52, has been under investigation since May 2018, when Facebook detected pornographic images of children being uploaded onto the internet and notified the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

NCMEC reported the information to law enforcement, prompting Union Gap police to launch an investigation.

Union Gap police detectives learned that Orton sent images of young children engaged in sexual activity to his son, Kyle. All of the children appeared to be between the ages of 4 and 10, according to a probable cause affidavit.

In a Facebook conversation, Paul Orton allegedly sent an image to his son and wrote, “That looks like fun,” to which his son replied, “Yes it does. More?”

Orton sent a total of at least five images of young children to his son online, the affidavit says.

After his arrest, Orton agreed to speak with detectives, at which point he admitted to molesting a 7-year-old girl at his home in Union Gap in 2015.

He was booked at the Yakima County Jail on charges of possession of depictions of a minor reengaged in sexually explicit conduct, dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct and first-degree child molestation.
