Visit Tri-Cities wants to award local tourism industry, here’s how to participate

Visit Tri-Cities accepting excellence award nominations

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Visit Tri-Cities wants to hear from you! They’re now accepting nominations for outstanding individuals or businesses who’ve enhanced the tourism industry through their stand-out customer service skills.

Visit Tri-Cities said one of the nominated individuals or businesses will receive the Excellence in Service Award. It’s a prestigious award that celebrates members of the Tri-Cities service industry for ongoing commitment to improve local tourism and provide amazing customer service.

“Excellent customer service is more important than ever as we anticipate 2022 being the best year for leisure tourism in the Tri-Cities,” said Michael Novakovich, President & CEO of Visit Tri-Cities. “We know that customer service will be just as important to visitors as the attractions and amenities available in our community. We look forward to recognizing those individuals and businesses that give the Tri-Cities a competitive edge by providing amazing experiences not just for leisure travel, but for conventions, meetings and sports events.”

According to Visit Tri-Cities, visitor spending in 2021 hit $489.3 million, sustaining 4,739 jobs in Benton and Franklin Counties. That supports a thriving business economy. Visitors generated $$51.2 million in state and local taxes.

The tax revenue generated by visitors, they said, helps fund our first responders, schools, teachers and the maintenance of our roadways, as well as the beautification of our parks and reduces Tri-Citian household tax burden by over $500. Visit Tri-Cities said visitor economy enhances the quality of life for people who live in the region.

The deadline to nominate someone or a business is September 1, 2022. At that time, nominations will be reviewed by the committee. Once selected, the recipient will be honored at a meeting on November 1, 2022, where they’ll accept the award and receive a $500 gift card sponsored by Battelle.

Last year, Kathy Nutt, the Wine Club Concierge of Frichette Winery, earned the honor.
