Body found at Walla Walla’s Jefferson Park identified as Yakima man, 59

UPDATE on August 31, 2022: The Walla Walla County Coroner’s Office has identified the body found in Jefferson Park on Monday as a 59-year-old Yakima resident.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the body was identified as 59-year-old Ricky L. LaForge, whose last known address was in Yakima. At this stage of the investigation, Walla Walla Major Crimes Detectives do not suspect any foul play. However, details surrounding the circumstances of his death are still unclear.

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Detectives from the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office rushed to Jefferson Park on Monday afternoon following reports that a body was found just beyond the tree line.

According to an alert from the Sheriff’s Office, an initial report was answered by the County’s 911 dispatch center around Noon on August 29, 2022. Detectives arrived at the scene and confirmed it was an adult body, though no further details on specifics or identification were made public at this preliminary stage of the investigation.

The body was turned over to the custody of the Walla Walla County Coroner’s Office for a comprehensive examination. Detectives remained at the scene to search for clues in Jefferson Park through the afternoon.
