Wanted sex offender arrested in Pasco
PASCO, Wash. — A wanted man is behind bars in the Franklin County Jail for failing to register as a sex offender and assault.
Christopher Morton has been wanted by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office since last year. He was convicted of third-degree rape of a child in 2006 and criminal trespassing against children in 2015. He did not register as a sex offender and he was most recently listed as a transient in the sex offender registry.
The level two offender was tracked down to Pasco on Waldemar Avenue and Park View Boulevard on Friday afternoon.
He refused to come out and was hiding in a shed in the backyard. Morton surrendered after Pasco Police K-9 Jucon was heard. However, Morton resisted arrest with officers. The officers were not injured.
Morton will be booked for his Benton County warrant and also second-degree assault because he resisted with officers.
