Wildhorse Resort & Casino helps honor American Indian culture
PENDLETON, Ore. — Wildhorse Resort & Casino hosted the 23 Annual Pow Wow event Saturday.
Hundreds of people gathered outside the casino to experience the traditions of American Indian culture.
300 dancers and 25 drum teams performed while others danced in their native attire.
Several local vendors offered native arts and crafts, apparel and food for everyone to enjoy.
“Today it means that we are keeping our culture alive which is through singing, dancing, drumming, food all the cultural things that are important to us as native people. Our language is here as well so all of this comes together with other various tribes and it’s medicine for all,” Chippewa and Yakima Tribe member Rainbow Azure said.
The event carries through tomorrow from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Wildhorse Resort & Casino.
