Woman dies in snowmobiling accident south of Milton-Freewater

WESTON, Ore. — A 58-year-old woman died in a snowmobiling accident Wednesday in the town of Weston, about 15 minutes south of Milton-Freewater.

The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office said they got a report of an accident near a home at 78319 Lieuallen Rd around 5:20 p.m.

Due to severe winter weather conditions, first responders recruited the help of snowmobilers and a snow cat operated by a Umatilla County Electric employee.

About 35 minutes later, they arrived to find JoLynn Lieullen unconscious. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family members told deputies because of the snowy roads, Lieullen would park her car at her mother’s residence on Pine Creek Road and ride a snowmobile to her home on Lieuallen Road.

A family member became concerned and went to search for her after she had not checked in. He discovered the accident and attempted to revive Lieullen before calling for help.
