Woman hit by train in Toppenish dies at hospital

TOPPENISH, Wash. — A Lower Valley woman died after she was hit by a train in Toppenish Sunday morning.
Georgeann Aviles, 52, was struck between Buena Way and South Toppenish Avenue just before 11 a.m.
She was rushed to a hospital for surgery, but did not survive. She passed away at 6:18 p.m., according to Yakima County Coroner Jack Hawkins.
The cause of death was determined to be blood loss and shock.
This is the second deadly crash involving a train and pedestrian within two days.
On Saturday, a 17-year-old boy was struck and killed by a train. His name is not being released.
