Woman recieves life changing dental surgery opportunity
A Benton County woman is receiving a $25,000 dental surgery for free, thanks to a program called “Smile Again.”
Barbara Trivett has suffered from dental problems for the past 12 years.
She’s lost the majority of her top teeth and because of this she said she doesn’t smile often and tries to stay away from public events.
On Tuesday she learned that out of 150 other candidates she won and would recieve a free surgery that she said will change her life.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” said Trivett. “It’s truly amazing to be able to do this be selected. It’s something I’ve wanted for years but haven’t had the medical or the dental to do it,” she said.
“We carry the same emotions with her these are people we see every single day and to be able to do something like this for someone who clearly has had mental anguish about this for years, affects us just as much as it does her,” said Dr. Todd Cooper with Columbia Basin Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in Kennewick.
Dr. Cooper said Trivett will recieve titanium implants that will be attached to a new set of teeth.
Trivett said her daughters were the ones who signed her up for this program.
She is hoping that once she gets her smile back she will have the confidence to work for an attorney she’s been wanting to work for or possbily further her education.
