Woman struck with bullet while driving

A 21-year-old Moses Lake woman was hit by a bullet while driving near the Grant County Fair Grounds on Saturday night.

She was in an Oldsmobile Alero going west on Valley Road with two female passengers when another vehicle started tailgating her. Deputies said it was likely a man in a Ford Crown Victoria.

At about 10 p.m., police responded to numerous calls of two vehicles driving fast and shots being fired. The woman was grazed on the right side of her head. About a quarter of her back window shattered, according to a news release.

The woman went to Samaritan Hospital to treat minor injuries.

Deputies later found a 1993 Crown Victoria with a broken axle that had crashed on Paxton Drive. Witnesses said they saw a man running from the car. Deputies searched the area but did not find him.

Both cars were impounded for deputies to collect evidence. Grant County Sheriffs said some details in this case have not been released as investigation is still ongoing.
