Worker injured after getting stuck in conveyor belt at Pasco potato facility
PASCO, Wash. — A man was rushed to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after getting stuck in a conveyor belt.
Around 3:10 p.m., a worker at Balcom and Moe Inc. called 911 to report another worker was stuck in the conveyor. Firefighters soon got to the potato facility near First Avenue and Margaret Street in Pasco.
According to Deputy Chief Ed Dunbar, crews had to stabilize the equipment before getting the man out of the conveyor belt. Dunbar said they quickly extricated the worker and rushed him to Kadlec Regional Medical Center. The man suffered “significant” injuries.
The type of injuries and his current condition is unclear. Dunbar said he got stuck while he was working. How the worker got stuck is unknown.
