WSP to start “Left Lane” emphasis
KENNEWICK, Wash. — Starting on Tuesday Washington State Patrol troopers will be pulling over drivers who “camp” or stay in the left lane.
According to WSP, it is against the law the be in the left lane unless you are trying to pass.
“Illegal left lane driving is actually our number one cause of road rage in Washington state,” said Trooper Chris Thorson. “If you are going to drive there and not move over, you could face a $136 ticket,” he said.
In 2016, WSP stopped 16,400 drivers for a left lane violation.
