WSP: Wapato woman injured in crash after driver fails to yield the right-of-way
WAPATO, Wash. — Authorities say a 20-year-old woman was injured Friday night when another driver failed to yield and struck her vehicle about a mile north of Wapato.
Washington State Patrol troopers say Jada S. Topps was southbound on State Route 97 approaching Lateral 1 Road about 5 p.m. in a Saturn Ion when she was struck by another vehicle traveling east on Lateral 1 Road.
Topps was injured and taken to Virginia Mason Memorial hospital for treatment.
The other driver — 43-year-old Jessica V. Maruriluna — was not injured in the crash, troopers said.
Troopers say the cause of the crash was inattention and that Maruriluna is facing charges for failing to yield the right-of-way.
