Washington State University quarterback Gardner Minshew II was not nominated Monday for the Heisman Trophy, much to the disappointment of many WSU fans.

The Associated Press reports the Heisman finalists are Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray and Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins.

ESPN reports Haskins nabbed the last finalist spot, edging out Minshew, who led the country with 433 completions. He completed 71 percent of his passes.

Minshew may not win a Heisman but he did win the 2018 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, which is awarded to the nation’s top senior or fourth-year junior quarterback.

Minshew is a fifth-year graduate transfer. He came to Pullman from East Carolina this past spring.

Minshew will lead the Cougs in a quest to win a school-record 11 games when they face Iowa State in the Valero Alamo Bowl later this month.

The winner of the Heisman Trophy will be announced on Saturday, December 8th.
