Animal Control officers in Yakima rescued 34 dogs and two chickens found living in feces, garbage and fleas early Friday morning.

The animals were being held inside a recreational vehicle with temperatures reaching upward of 90 degrees, according to the Yakima Humane Society.

With the help of the police department and shelter staff, the dogs and chickens were provided a clean, safe place to stay.

They were taken to the humane society’s adoption center and received evaluation and treatment as necessary.

The Humane Society is accepting donations on their website like dog food and other pet necessities to help care for rescued animals.
