Yakima City Council selects new city manager
YAKIMA, WA — The Yakima City Council has selected the new city manager.
The council voted unanimously to select Thurston County Manager Cliff Moore, after interviewing four finalists for the job Tuesday morning.
Moore has worked as Thurston County manager since 2013, but has worked in other various roles for the county since 2004.
He has a bachelor’s degree in world history from the University of Califorina at Irvine and a master’s degree in multicultural education from the University of San Francisco.
We spoke with Moore at Monday night’s community reception, who says he has what it takes to bring city leaders and the public together and solve the issues at hand.
“I’ve built community, I’ve built consensus, I brought organizations and groups and individuals with very differing opinions to the table and found common ground,” said Moore, “I think would be the right person at the right time at this juncture in the history of Yakima.”
The city will now work out a contract with Moore.
