Yakima council expected to approve quick road fix
YAKIMA, Wash. — The recent winter really took its toll on a highly travelled road in Yakima, closed for nearly two months now.
North 66th Avenue between Scenic Drive and Englewood Avenue has been closed because of unsafe driving conditions.
The Yakima city council expected to avoid the usual bidding process and approve up to $200,000 of emergency repairs during tomorrows scheduled meeting, to help expedite the process.
“If we had to wait for the formal bidding process and had to go through that we’d be talking about that roadway not getting repaired until probably mid or even late summer,” said city of Yakima spokesman Randy Beehler.
If the council approves the emergency repairs, the road will be fixed within the month of April.
