Yakima County candidates head-to-head in Tuesday’s election

Here’s a list of the preliminary results for mayor and city council races in Yakima County:

GRANDVIEW

Gaylord Brewer took the lead Tuesday in the race for Grandview City Council Position 4, taking in 84 more votes than Joseph W. Jensen.

Brewer had 61.6 percent of the total, or 221 votes, according to preliminary results, while Jensen had 137 votes, or 38.2 percent.

Candidate(s) who ran unopposed: Gloria Mendoza, Mayor; Diana R. Jennings, Council Position 3; Bill Moore, Council Position 5; David S. Díaz, Council Position 6; and Michael Everett, Council Position 7.

GRANGER

Jose Trevino took a slight lead Tuesday in the race for Granger Mayor, with Julie M. Sharp just 13 votes behind.

Trevino had 53.9 percent of the total, or 75 votes, according to preliminary results. Sharp had 62 votes, or 44.6 percent.

In the race for Granger City Council Position 5, just 10 votes separated Hilda Guzmán and Israel Bustamante Luevano.

Guzmán came in slightly ahead with 75 votes, or 53.6 percent of the total. Bustamante Luevano had 46.4 percent, or 65 votes.

Candidate(s) who ran unopposed: Juan G. Isiordia, Council Position 4.

HARRAH

Candidate(s) who ran unopposed: Barbara Harrer, Mayor; Christina Cordova-Rodriguez, Council Position 3; Avelina Garcia, Council Position 4; and Kathryn Henry, Council Position 5.

MABTON

Candidate(s) who ran unopposed: Mark Gourneau, Council Position 3; Vera Zavala, Council Position 4; and Arturo De La Fuente, Council Position 5.

MOXEE

David S. Mullen took the lead Tuesday night for Moxee City Council Position 3, with 58.9 percent of the total, or 119. Maravell A. Gonsioroski had 82 votes, or 40.6 percent.

Candidate(s) who ran unopposed: Gregory Lloyd LaBree, Mayor; David Roy Council Position 4; and Larry Frank, Council Position 5.

NACHES

Candidate(s) who ran unopposed: Paul D. Williams, Mayor; Robert Weekes, Council Position 4; and Suzi Williams, Council Position 5.

SELAH

Clifford Peterson took the lead Tuesday night in the race for Selah City Council Position 4, receiving 327 votes, or 57.9 percent of the total. Buffy Ibach had 230 votes, or 40.7 percent.

Roger L. Bell took the lead in the race for Selah City Council Position 5, with 66 percent of the total, or 383 votes. Ellen Overby had 191 votes, or 32.9 percent.

Russell Carlson had a strong lead in the race for Selah City Council Position 7, coming in at 441 votes, or 78.1 percent of the total. Crispin Garza had 120 votes, or 21.2 percent.

Candidate(s) who ran unopposed: Sherry Raymond, Mayor; Kevin Wickenhagen, Council Position 1; Jeremy Burke, Council Position 3; and Dave Kearby, Council Position 6.

SUNNYSIDE

Mike Farmer took the lead in the race for Sunnyside City Council Position 5, with 235 votes, or 54.2 percent of the total. Julia Hart had 197 votes, or 45.4 percent.

Craig Hicks took the lead in the race for Sunnyside City Council Position 7, bringing in 64.9 percent of the total, or 278 votes. Betty Lynn Garza had 149 votes, or 34.8 percent.

Candidate(s) who ran unopposed: James (Jim) A. Restucci, Council Position 6.

TIETON

Less than a dozen votes separated the two candidates in the race for Tieton Mayor. Dewane Ashbrooks had 29 votes, or 61.7 percent of the total, while Kenneth Mannin had 18 votes, or 38.3 percent.

Candidate(s) who ran unopposed: Amy Oberrender, Council Position 4; and Jacqueline Williams, Council Position 5.

TOPPENISH

The race for Toppenish City Council Position 6 was close Tuesday night, with just 17 votes separating the candidates. Naila Prieto-Duval had 134 votes, or 53.4 percent of the total, while Randy Taylor had 117 votes, or 46.6 percent.

Candidate(s) who ran unopposed: George J. Garcia, Council Position 5; and Loren O. Belton, Council Position 7.

UNION GAP

The Union Gap City Council Position 5 race was close Tuesday night, with David W. Matson at 157 votes, or 53 percent of the total, and David O. Hansen at 138 votes, or 46.6 percent.

Candidate(s) who ran unopposed: Jack Galloway, Council Position 4; and Julie Schilling, Council Position 6.
