YAKIMA – Yakima authorities have arrested a man they believe is involved in the fatal shooting of a woman at the Yakima Inn.

Jose Sanchez-Perez, 26, was booked into the Yakima County Jail on charges of murder and kidnapping on October 29.

According to court documents, officers with the Yakima Police Department were called to the Yakima Inn, located at 1022 North 1st Street just before 2 a.m. on October 21.

Officers said they found a woman, later identified as Angelica Aguilar, 31, suffered several gunshot wounds to the face and body.

She was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities said they also found several weapons inside the room as well as surveillance equipment.

Through investigative work, the Yakima Police department said they identified Sanchez-Perez as a suspect in the case.

The department then requested Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, also known as the VOTF Unit, help track down Sanchez-Perez.

VOTF investigators said they were able to get information on Sanchez-Perez and found him in the Buena area. VOTF said they saw Sanchez-Perez leave a home on the 90th block of Burr Street and arrested him.

Sanchez-Perez appeared in court on October 31. His bond was set at $500,000. His next court date is set for November 14.

Authorities continue to investigate the case and more information may be released as the case develops.
