Yakima jail inmate accused of punching corrections officer
YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. — A 27-year-old woman being held at the Yakima County jail allegedly punched a corrections officer in the face while being taken back to her cell. Her name has not been released.
According to court documents obtained by the Yakima Herald-Republic, the corrections officer was leading the woman to her cell on the morning of May 24.
As she entered the cell, the woman turned around and punched the officer multiple times. The corrections officer pushed the woman into her cell and shut the door, court documents said.
She is scheduled to appear in Yakima County Superior Court Thursday on suspicion of third-degree assault.
The woman was initially booked into jail on drug charges.
