Yakima PD: Fired employee threatened to blow up Walmart store, kill ex-coworkers’ families
WEST VALLEY, Wash. — A fired Walmart employee is accused of threatening to blow up the West Valley store where he once worked and kill his former coworkers’ families.
Yakima police said Roy Maynard, 41, made threats via text message on Tuesday morning to blow up the Walmart on Nob Hill Boulevard. He’s also accused of singling out two coworkers in particular and threatening to kill their families.
Though their investigation, police determined that they had enough evidence to arrest Maynard on charges of making a bomb threat and felony harassment, Sgt. David Cortez said.
Maynard was arrested at his home on the 600 block of S. 18th Ave. the same day. He was granted pre-trial release ahead of his arraignment.
