Yakima Tieton Food Mart Robbery

YAKIMA, Wash. — Yakima police are investigating an armed robbery Wednesday morning at Tieton Food Mart, at the corner of West Tieton Drive and South 48th Avenue.

Police responded just after 2:30 a.m. to reports of an armed robbery at the convenience store. The store clerk reportedly told officers that a man came into the store, grabbed a soda and walked up to the counter.

According to police, the man pulled out a handgun, demanded money, broke the plexiglass shield in front of the clerk and took off with the till.

“The officers did a K9 track for about three to four blocks and then lost the suspect,” Lt. Chad Stephens said. “They assume he got into the vehicle a couple blocks away.”

No one was injured in the incident. Investigators are looking at surveillance video, but don’t have a detailed description of the suspect yet.
