Yakima police searching for 2018 robbery suspect

Yakima police are looking for a 27-year-old man they say punched a woman in the face and stole her belongings last October.

A first-degree robbery warrant was filed Thursday for Francisco Lorenzo Moreno IV after police say he and his girlfriend robbed and assaulted a 31-year-old woman on October 18.

Police were called about 5:15 p.m. to reports of a robbery victim in the 1500 block of North Fourth Street.

The woman told police she knew the people and that Moreno and his girlfriend had given her a ride to Walmart — 1600 E. Chestnut Ave. — to pick up a $250 money order to bail her husband out of jail.

When they got to the store, Moreno went inside to pick up the order because the woman had been trespassed from the Walmart, according to court documents.

When Moreno returned to the car, police say he refused to give the woman her money. The woman asked him several times to give her the money, warning him that if he didn’t, she would call the police.

When the woman took out her cell phone, police say Moreno grabbed it out of her hands and punched her in the face, according to court documents.

Police say Moreno drove to the Target parking lot — 12 N. Fair Ave. — and attempted to drag the woman out of the vehicle while she fought to stay inside and get her stuff back, according to court documents.

Moreno drove to Selah, talking with his girlfriend — who was sitting with the woman in the backseat — about where to drop the woman off, court documents said.

In court documents, police say the girlfriend took two wallets and a flip phone out of the woman’s purse and snapped the phone in half, punching the woman in the face several times on the way to Selah.

Police say Moreno pulled out a small handgun from under his leg and told the woman, “Do you want a bullet between the eyes? I’d rather shoot this ***** than deal with this.”

The woman told police while she was afraid at the time and believed Moreno would follow through on his threats, she didn’t want to show him her fear.

Moreno and his girlfriend eventually dropped the woman off in the 1500 block of North Fourth Street, where police found her.
