Yakima’s community Christmas tree reinstalled after winds knock it over
YAKIMA, Wash. — Yakima’s community Christmas tree is standing once again after powerful winds knocked over the 40-foot giant last Wednesday.
Crews from the City of Yakima, Downtown Association of Yakima and a local crane company reinstalled the tree Monday morning.
The tree was originally erected Tuesday, Nov. 26 in Downtown Yakima’s Millenium Plaza on South Third Avenue.
The day after it was installed, the tree was one of many that were blown over by severe wind all over the Yakima Valley. The lower trunk of the Christmas tree needed to be removed due to damage before it could be reinstalled.
The tree was donated by a local resident named Lou Ann Degrosslier.
